Personalized and Group In Car Driving Lessons

Professional and experienced New York State certified instructors are available to provide quality education about the proper and safe operation of a motor vehicle. Driving lessons give comprehensive instructions in the latest techniques and skills along with explanations regarding traffic laws, "Rules of the Road", etc. leading to successful completion of the New York State Road Test. The instructors will provide tips and ways to enlighten clients about precision driving techniques. By means of observation and demonstration the instructor will be able to assist the client to be a safer and more efficient driver.

Why should I take lessons?

  • Safe drivers must become confident.
  • NY State recommends at least 30 hours of practice in which 10 hours should be in moderate traffic.
  • New Junior Permit drivers are required to prove 20 hours of driving before signing up for the road test. Click here to download the form (requires Adobe Acrobat).
  • You can hire GSS to accompany you to the road test site with at least one lesson.

Learn how to:

  • Parallel Park
  • K-Turn (also called Y-Turn or 3-Point Turn)
  • Diagonal Parking
  • Expressway Exposure
    • Cruise control: Entering and exiting, lane changing, speed control
  • City and rural driving
    • Location stopping points, types of traffic lights, right-of-way situations
  • Deal with special situations
    • One way streets, lane changing procedures

Recommended procedures:

  1. Read drivers manual and get drivers permit from the local DMV. (Drivers permit required before lessons are given.)
  2. Take the required 5 Hour Pre-licensing course.
  3. Immediately after the class, sign up for the road test. The wait may be for about one month depending on the season.
  4. Take driving lessons from us, at least one a week until the test date. It is very important that you practice outside the lessons.
  5. You can use GSS car or your own. We do require a two hour lesson the day of the road test.
  6. After you have passed the road test sign up for the Insurance/Point Reduction course to get a 10% discount on your insurance. Remember, every time you get in the vehicle, it is like beginning all over, so DRIVE SAFELY.
