In recent years, statewide collisions, injury and
violation frequencies have increased significantly. The primary
causes are poor driver skills and poor driver attitudes. Until
recently, there has been little opportunity to improve driver
performance for drivers who were not high school age and eligible
for driver education.
Now, a program produced with your interests in mind
is available - the Driver Training Associates Point Reduction
and Insurance Reduction Program. This program will give all drivers
an opportunity to learn new defensive driving strategies, sharpen
techniques and enjoy themselves while doing so.
- Gives 10% liability and collision insurance premium discounts to principal
vehicle operators for 36 months following program completion.
All NY State Board of Insurance regulated insurance companies
comply.
- Reduces up to four (4) violation points on your Department
of Motor Vehicles drivng record. Course may be repeated every
18 months for point reduction.

Until recently, if a motorist completed the MVAPC and had no points
active on his/her license at the time, they were ineligible to receive
point reduction for the next eighteen month period. So, if they
received a violation after attending our course, they could not
receive point reduction even if they took a subsequent course in
the next eighteen months, since they had attended a course in the
previous eighteen months. Now the students will receive the reduction
because, even though a course was taken in the prior eighteen months,
they did not receive point reduction credit for it and therefore
are still eligible to receive it.
Note: A defensive driving course taught through the DMV-certified
Point/Indurance Reduction Program does NOT qualify as the required
5-hour classroom pre-licensing course.
- UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE, UP TO FOUR
(4) POINTS CAN BE REDUCED OFF OF YOUR DRIVING RECORD. *Course
can be taken, to reduce points, once every 18 months.
- AS PRINCIPAL DRIVER OF A VEHICLE, SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THIS
COURSE ENTITLES YOU TO RECEIVE A MINIMUM 10% REDUCTION
IN THE BASE RATE OF YOUR AUTO LIABILITY AND COLLISION INSURANCE
PREMIUMS EACH YEAR FOR THREE YEARS.
